Founded in print on 1 Muharram 1386 AH (22 April 1966), Asy-Syir’ah: Jurnal Ilmu Syari’ah dan Hukum is Indonesia’s longest-standing academic journal in Sharia and legal studies. For over five decades, it has contributed to the spread of scholarly ideas and knowledge in the field of Islamic law. Continuously, it provides a forum for academics, legal scholars, and professionals to engage in rigorous and well-documented legal scholarship. The journal is published biannually, in June and December.
With the advent of digitalization, the journal published its first online issue in 2008 and has since systematically digitized its archival issues to enhance long-term accessibility through the Open Journal System (OJS). In 2021, to expand its international readership, the journal began publishing all issues in English.
