Asy-Syir’ah: Jurnal Ilmu Syari’ah dan Hukum is a scholarly journal dedicated to the interdisciplinary, critical, and contextual analysis of sharia and contemporary legal systems. It offers an intellectual platform for investigating the dynamic interplay between Islamic legal traditions and state law frameworks, with particular attention to their intersections within social, political, economic, and familial domains. By integrating perspectives from Islamic legal studies, social sciences, and philosophy, Asy-Syir’ah fosters rigorous academic discourse that situates Islamic law within the complexities of modern legal and societal developments.

Asy-Syir’ah is a peer-reviewed scientific journal that publishes original research articles and scholarly reflections focusing on both theoretical and practical issues in sharia and law. It provides a platform for researchers, jurists, lawyers, and scholars to disseminate their critical findings and innovative perspectives within these intersecting fields. The views expressed in the published works are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the positions of the editorial board. The journal is issued biannually, in June and December.

Established in print on 1 Muharram 1386 (April 22, 1966), Asy-Syir’ah is recognized as one of Indonesia’s pioneering academic journals in the field of Islamic legal studies. Since the introduction of its online edition in 2015, the journal has systematically digitized its archival issues to improve academic accessibility via the Open Journal System (OJS). It was awarded a “B” accreditation by the Directorate General of Higher Education (Decree No. 36b/DIKTI/Kep./2016), valid from May 2016 to May 2021, and currently holds a Sinta 2 accreditation for the period from January 2021 to December 2025, reflecting its ongoing commitment to scholarly rigor and intellectual advancement.
