Malware Attack
On June 10, 2023, the OJS 2 system of Asy-Syir’ah: Jurnal Ilmu Syari’ah dan Hukum suffered a virus/malware attack. This attack caused the OJS 2 system to become inaccessible and its data to be corrupted.
The journal manager then reported the attack to the OJS development team. The OJS development team then investigated and found that the attack was caused by a virus/malware known as "XorDDoS".
XorDDoS is a type of malware that attacks systems by sending DDoS attacks. A DDoS attack is an attack that aims to make a system inaccessible.
Asy-Syir’ah: Jurnal Ilmu Syari’ah dan Hukum then released an update to the OJS 3 system. However, the update could not repair the data that had been damaged by the XorDDoS virus/malware attack. Therefore, the journal manager had to reupload all articles that had been published on OJS 2.
The journal cannot publish new articles during the data reupload process.
The journal loses data on articles that have been published.
